Okay here's the case..
we have a new trainer in Shatec. I won't disclose his name for personal reasons.
He is smart, interlectural and well educated. He has a number of qualifications, including a bachelor in marketing and a degree in accounting.
Though his lectures are informative and interesting, he as an individual, is probably the worst i've come by. A person with his type social status, should not be cocky, and especially, racial and discriminating. Yes, he does, in someway, have the right to be cocky in front of his students. However, no one has the right to look down, and furthermore, talk down on other races and countries, especially the way he does.
I despised him the first day i met him because he wouldn't stop praising himself, for example, where he has travelled and taught. Okay! once or twice was fine, but everytime he starts talking about a place he has been to in Asia, he has to give a negative comment.
After a few lessons, i was okay with him. I got use to the way he talks and teaches. I even helped him with issues with his computer.
But today, the way he talked to one of my classmates, was just out of hand. My classmate is from Myanmar, and it may not be the best place in the world to live but it's better than many countries/cities around. This student happened to say something at the wrong time. Though what he said wasn't rude or anything, he still got kicked out of the classroom.
The trainer kept calling him Burmese (the type of race from Myanmar) instead of his name. Yes, i admit, i to am guilty of doing that, but i'm not rude about it. The way he talked about the country and him, was very disappointing. He kept saying things like, 'you come from myanmar and you don't know how to catch a grasshopper?' and 'your the worst Burmese i've seen.
He is an insult to trainers everywhere!
Comments like this can really hurt an individual, yet alone, the rest of the fellow Burmese students in my class. I see a man with such brains and talents, but his personality just ruins it. He is a man that may claim he isn't racial or dispising, but it is surely clear that he is.
Besides the fact of making fun of Myanmar students, he likes to pick on the Indonesian and Chinese (China) community as well. These countries are not up to standard, like how Singapore is, but he has no right, to discriminate. If the tables were turned, i'm pretty sure he wouldn't want people to talk bad about his race and country.
He, as a trainer, must respect each and every student with dignity and class. Whatever he chooses to say outside of class is his own problem. What he brings in the classroom, really bothers the rest of my classmates, i'm sure.
If i were him, i would learn to respect people for who they are and where they come from. I'm just surprised he hasn't been beat to death by his comments. I'm sure we are not the only ones hearing his disrespectful thoughts.
I really can't stand the things that come out of his mouth sometimes. It's just so bothering and no one really wants to talk back because he is a trainer. No student now, would want to jeporadize their final semster, i'm sure.
Okay...just needed to get that off my chest. I couldn't take it anymore. It's so saddening that after years of fighting racisim and peoples rights, that there is still an individual like him. so sad....
i'm out peace!
